In Japan, a tsukubai is a stone washbasin usually located at entrance to shrines, temples or tea gardens so visitors may purify themselves by ritual hand washing and rinsing of ones mouth. This type of ritual cleansing is the custom for guests attending a tea ceremony or visiting the grounds of a Buddhist temple. The name originates from the verb tsukubau meaning to bow down, an act of humility.
Irreplaceable.

This one-of-a-kind basin of organic form, possesses unique qualities and represents some, of the finest old world Japanese craftsmanship found today.
Appropriate in gardens, for tea garden “purification” entry areas or indoors as tokanoma accents. They also make wonderful contemporary artistic statements as water/floating flower vessels, planters, or as eye appealing, stand alone work of art placed in your favourite interior or exterior space.
