This is an authentic pair of old Japanese gold gilt and lacquered wooden Buddha standing in compassionate mudra. We acquired them from a large Japanese collection this past year from one of many buying trips. One Buddha sculpture dates to the Meiji period and the other to the Taisho period, early 20th century.
Our Buddhas were hand-carved and hand gilt and then the head curls were finely painted with a gorgeous black glaze. Each has one hand partially missing from previous collecting and other minor wear. Please review photographs.
Dimensions: tallest is 15 inches tall and 5.25 inches wide
Possibilities: It would look perfect indoors in your special tokanoma, shrine, or mediation space.
