History of Buddhas 16 Rakon:
The Sixteen Japanese: 十六羅漢 Juroku Rakan (Arhats) are a group of legendary religious disciples of Buddha in Buddhism. The grouping of sixteen known as Arhats was brought to China, and later to Japan from India. Worship of the sixteen continues to the present day in Japan and Tibet. In Japan they are particularly popular in Zen Buddhism, where they are treated as examples of behaviour.
